Description:

Pin-drop acoustics and a schedule studded with world-class entertainers are only two reasons why the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center stands as a public statement of the cultural aspirations of Mercyhurst University and the Erie community.

With its 825 fire-engine-red seats, signatory of the great concert halls around the world, six private boxes, and its stunning architecture, the center accommodates both intimate and elaborate events challenging the intellect, stimulating the imagination and providing many memorable visits to the college.

Mercyhurst’s $3.6 million Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center is equipped with a state-of-the-art computerized sound and lighting system, a 3,400-square-foot performance stage, a 35mm Simplex projector and two concert-level output stereo speakers.

The center was dedicated April 20, 1996, at the 20th Annual D’Angelo Young Artist Competition. The Performing Arts Center is named to honor Mary D’Angelo, who, along with her husband Dr. George D’Angelo, has long been supporters of the arts at Mercyhurst.

RMA designed the entire geoexchange HVAC system including acoustical systems for the HVAC to achieve the Pin Drop acoustic performance.
